Sanctuary and Stoney Ridge

sanctuary

"Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them."
Exodus 25: 8

We know that it does not require a place of brick or stone to worship God; we know that the Holy Spirit dwells among us wherever we may go; but we offer this house, built with loving hands, as a temple of refuge and a place where we can worship the Lord with hearts united. This unity is our Holy Ground, our communion together is our strength, hope is our sanctuary.

First Christian Church offers two worship services at our location on S. Limit and one service at Stoney Ridge Village Residential Care Facility on N. 65 Hwy.

9:00 a.m Sanctuary Service
10:30 a.m. Stoney Ridge Service
11:00 a.m. CrossWalk Service

Our 9:00 a.m. service is a traditional sanctuary service led by our ministerial staff. This service includes music from our wonderful chancel choir, led by our music director Darrin Hartman and music from our organist, Mark Piepinbrink. The congregation participates in singing hymns, responsive readings printed in the bulletin, prayer and communion, which is served weekly by the deacons of the church. Youth ages 7th through 12th grade serve communion on the first Sunday of the month. There is a young children’s time each week which is led by various church leaders. Typically, the minister or a guest speaker delivers a sermon; the message is based on scripture readings.

The 10:30 worship service at Stoney Ridge is led by various congregational volunteers. The residents of Stoney Ridge and their guests participate in the service by singing hymns, prayer, scripture readings and communion every Sunday. The service is approximately 30 minutes and the message is delivered by the volunteer lay leader.
