Community and Global Involvement

The Outreach Ministry of First Christian Church is very active in showing God's love by partnering with local organizations. Special events are planned on a regular basis to raise funds and solicit donations for local organizations such as: CASA, CACTUS, Habitat of Humanity, Show-Me Christian Youth Home, Festival of Sharing, Relay For Life, Pettis County Community Partnership, Open Door Ministries, Salvation Army, Mayor's Santa Fund, Embassay Homeless Shelter, Meals on Wheels, Community Cafe and many others.

Also, the Outreach Ministry promotes special Day Offerings for our denomination. These would include Week of Compassion, Pentecost Special Offering, Reconciliation Special Offering, Thanksgiving Special Offering and Christmas Special Offering. In addition, First Christian Church sends financial support to our national, regional, and area offices of the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.

First Christian Church has also planned Mission Trips for Adults and Youth in the past, and are currently planning another event.

We are proud of the mentoring partnership between First Christian Church and Washington Elementary School, called CLIK (Changing Lives, Impacting Kids). This has been a very successful program and and we look forward to continuing to grow the number of children we serve.

First Christian Church is very welcoming to community groups and charitable organizations. FCC hosts such groups as American Red Cross, Community Blood Center, AARP, Jolly Elders, various support groups, and many others. First Christian Church is known throughout Sedalia as a church with a community spirit.
